Homework 18

Name:
Science Homework 18
Due June 6th, 2016
Date:

Organelles and their Functions vs School places and their Functions

15 organelles or more: Each comparison must go from 1.0 to 2.0. See the example below.

Compare Cell Organelles to School places and their functions –  an example has been done for you.

Recommended: Use the Science Book or just watch the videos again.

The School Entrance is like a Cell Membrane.
1.0   Security guards remains in the gate all the time.
2.0   They open and close the gate for people;
3.0   They either stop or allow people to come in or go out of school;
4.0   The gate is a barrier to separate the school from the outside environment;
5.0   Some people stay outside and others remain inside during class;
6.0   The gatekeepers (porters) control who comes in and out of school;
7.0   They stop students from going out without permission/authorization;
8.0   The entrance is to stop strange people from coming into the school;
9.0   Kids wait for parents after school, and their parents wait for them at the gate;
10.0           The gate allows teachers and students to interact with people from other palces/schools;
A Cell Membrane is like The School Entrance.
1.0   The cell membrane is a barrier that separates a cell from its surrounding environment;
2.0   The cell membrane controls the movement of substances in and out of cells;
3.0   The cell membrane protects the contents of the cell from its surroundings;
4.0  The cell membrane maintains the physical integrity of the cell;
5.0  The cell membrane holds all the cell organelles together within the cell;
6.0  It forms a barrier between the inside of the cell and the environment outside the cell;
7.0  It enables different chemical materials to exist on each side of the cell;
8.0  The cell membrane interacts with the cell membrane of adjacent cells;
9.0  It protects the cell from some harmful chemicals in its external environment;
10.0        It also protects the cell from loss of rich and useful cell materials within the cell;
See the videos if you need help. (Revisit the sites).
