(  ) First, review what elapsed time is, and double check the parts of a paragraph just by solving the word problems in this homework activities. Remember: we have studied about this all in class.
(  ) Second, ask your Mom and Daddy to give you five real examples of elapsed time. Each example must be based on the family daily rotine. Do not invent anything.
(  ) Third, take notes as your parents give you the real examples of elapsed time. Make some drawings (clock + start/finish time) in order to illustrate your work.
(  ) Last, in pencil, write a word problem for each example of elapsed time. In your word problems you should include the parts of a paragraph (read the examples, and see how). Highlight the topic sentence in yellow and the concluding/summary sentence in green. A title, don’t forget. See the examples!

         A paragraph is a group of sentences about one topic. It contains a topic sentence, some supporting details sentences, and possibly a concluding sentence or summary sentence. The sentences must be connected and follow one another from the beginning to the end of the paragraph. Now we know a lot about how to write a paragraph well.

          When time passes by, you say it elapses. Five years elapse while you are in elementary school. Nine months elapse while you were in your mother’s womb. The word elapse comes from the Latin word elabi which means "to slip away." Elapsed time is simply the amount of time that passes from the beginning of an event to its end.

         It was my grandma’s birthday. She lives in the countryside. My family and I went to visit her for her birthday.           I love to play video games. When I play video game, I just feel awesome! Sometimes I play video game with my friends or with my brother. Yesterday, my brother and I decided to play video game. We started the first game at half past ten and we finished the last game four hours and thirty-five minutes later. I lost most of the times because my brother is an awesome gamer!
